Earth Wisdom

Updated: Oct 5, 2021

4.5 billion years of continuous species creation and extinction, movements of continents into numerous formations, the dominion of ice ages and seas of molten fire: Gaia Breathes and She Remembers.

As carbon based beings, as sentient beings, we are expressions of Mother Earth. Most of Her names are lost to time reclaimed only in those deeper listenings with the veins of igneous rocks born of fiery seas; petrified seashells found on high mountain peaks; and petroglyph paintings of forests found in desert sands. There are names to be found in those hidden realms where time holds time and the past is not lost or found but instead exists as a palimpsest of many presents.

We think of GAIA as the material realm but she is Spirit as well, a dreaming of all that has been and will be, an intersection with the stars accessed through our imagination and revelation and through the portals of her sanctuaries and the medicine of her flora and fauna, mysterious entries to her inner and outer dreamings, to the cosmos beyond and the intricate workings of our biology, of our mind and our soul.

We are in the time of the great remembering and reconnection with Her and yet she is ever new, a chameleon of many hues, a reflection of our own dreaming. As we remember Gaia again, after this time of isolation and disconnect, of supposed “dominion over” instead of resonant interconnection with, lets approach her with our clear, lucid minds and open heart to see what she reveals. We are her students.

This “New Earth” this ancient realm, this timeless Gaia is material yes, but She is also consciousness, luminosity and vibration, that opens to us at every turn, when we have the eyes to see. She is the golden shimmer on leaves and lakes and in seemingly solid matter as it reveals itself as light.

In the realm of technology Gaia is Queen. All secrets are unfolded in her splendor, blueprints for building the future and for remembrance of the past.

Janine Beynus’s Biomimicry serves as a powerful reminder and practice to look at Mother Earth as the source of our design and innovation.

Biomimicry: the design and production of materials, structures, and systems that are modeled on biological entities and processes.

Bio-Resonant Designs, technologies that are in harmony with the Earth’s cycles and systems and honoring of it’s resources. This can be our future.

Biophilia, as introduced by the biologist E.O Wilson, suggests that humans possess an innate tendency to seek connections with nature and other forms of life.

I spend my mornings in these summer days walking the deep forested trails of Upstate New York. Forests and ferns, waterfalls and emerald moss. Birth and decay. It is a walking meditation deeply wedded with our human experience. As I take Her in she is ever changing and in moments she completely consumes so that I feel no separation from the wind and my breath, the trees and my limbs, her flowing waters and my blood. We are One.

GAIA, is shining for us now. Waiting for us to notice, embrace her once again before it is too late.

Place your feet on her soul-soil and remember.

The irony is that not unlike the rediscovering of our own soul’s truth, that despite appearances, we are never separated from GAIA for she is not only material but a mystical aspiration of collective enlightenment and personal illumination.

I am reminded of a the Rabindrath Tagore poem, transcribed for me in gold ink on black paper, by a couple of wise travelers, Sharon and Pepe, who I had met in Japan, when I at 19 years of age as I began my journey across the world, across our precious Earth’s terrains in search of the puzzle pieces of personal and collective soul.

Journey Home

The time that my journey takes is long and the way of it long.

I came out on the chariot of the first gleam of light, and pursued my

voyage through the wildernesses of worlds leaving my track on many a star and planet.

It is the most distant course that comes nearest to thyself,

and that training is the most intricate which leads to the utter simplicity of a tune.

The traveler has to knock at every alien door to come to his own,

and one has to wander through all the outer worlds

to reach the innermost shrine at the end.

My eyes strayed far and wide before I shut them and said `Here art thou!'

The question and the cry `Oh, where?' melt into tears of a thousand

streams and deluge the world with the flood of the assurance `I am!'

What are your experiences, remembering and known Wisdom of Mother Earth, as Home and as a reflection of your innermost Soul?

We are remembering together.

Love,
